they cannot, nor can you get lab results from the lab staff, etc... only the doctor is allowed to give results, it is out of other health care personnels scope of practice to give a diagnosis to a patient, and therefore illegal. I work in a laboratory and for me to give a patient results without md permission could get me fired. CAN we interpret? yes. can we tell you what we see? no.
like if I were to give a lab result to a patient and tell them, well, your hemoglobin is low and your liver enzymes are high, and then they ask "well WHYYY???" then you go into diagnosing and other things that we did not go to school for ten years to learn how to diagnose. we may know possible reasons, we are not doctors

The technician which performs any scientific try is legally no longer meant to furnish you any diagnosis. they could get their workplace/well being facility in a extensive felony mess if her diagnosis seems to be incorrect. She's no longer a doctor and consequently can purely instruct you whats there on the visual demonstrate unit. If something is erroneous, the well being care expert will take a seem at it in the subsequent couple of days and make certain if there rather is a scientific challenge. they are going to then have a nurse touch you with that counsel. in case your little one became into so energetic, i think of you are able to desire to take that for what it rather is properly worth -- if some thing have been exceptionally incorrect might your little one be so energetic? do no longer anticipate that there is a few thing incorrect, she legally won't be able to inform you the two way. I went in for a coronary heart echo, the effect of which will have placed me on the middle and lung transplant record, and that i did no longer locate out that each little thing became into ok for 2 organization days. Nerve-wracking, yet regrettably the technicians don't have the practise to make scientific diagnoses and persons are so rapid to record a lawsuit :-(

I'm in Australia and have had 3 pregnancies(2 babies and 1 miscarriage) and over the course of these I've had 14 ultrasounds because I have Lupus. At every one of these appointments the technician told me what they saw. I have an increased risk of heart problems for the baby and they always told me exactly what they could see. When they send the reports back to my OB it is really just a formality. On a couple of occasions the technician called in a senior staff member to comfirm that there was no heart block but other than that they just called it as they saw it. It's a shame that you have all had negative experiences as it's your body and baby and why should the risk of legal action ruin everything including your peace of mind?!

I don't understand it either. It makes no sense. The ultrasound tech knows alot more than the doctor. They actually take time looking at it. When the doctor comes in, he flips through the pages so fast that there is no way he could see anything.
My daughter had her 20 week ultrasound about a month ago and it was awesome. I can't hardly wait for my grandson to be born.

because they aren't doctors only techs. In some cases they will tell you if their is a problem like no heartbeat because its pretty damn obivous you didn't see one. But other than that they aren't qualified to give you any information so why would they? They don't even write up the reports afterward. Usually a senior staffer or doctor will look at the scans and write up the report for the patients doctor.

When I had a ultrasound she didnt say anything and I was having problems with my pregnancy so I thought she was rude. After she did the ultrasound the doctor came and talked to us. I am thinking it is a legal reason to the fact that they are not licensed physicians.

Because a few people have sued the tech for saying something and then it turning out to be nothing. Now because of this techs are afraid they will lose their job or licsense.
My tech didnt even want to tell me the sex of the baby because he was afraid that on the off chance he was wrong I would get mad! Its crazy how a few money hungry people have ruined it for everyone else!

They can be sued and the hospital does not want to have to use their liability insurance to cover the screw up of one of their staff. That is why they are not allowed to say anything.
