SyncMaster906BW widescreen? it is hooked into a 7900GT evga graphics card with a DVI cable and I ran the CD that came with the monitor and still nothing!?

Ok thanks and yes it is hooked up via DVI cable and my problem is when i set the res to the native res for my monitor 1440x900 the screen dose not all fit on the monitor (when i take my courser to the right it shows the clock but moves the screen so i cannot see the start button and the other way when i go back to my left)???? but when i have the res set lower that problem is solved but it is not as good quality because it isnt the monitors native res????

Those controls should be unnecessary for a DVI connection.


It sounds like you have a pan-n-scan desktop, where you have a 1440 by 900 desktop, but only see a smaller window of it.

Try upgrading the video drivers, Also use the plug and play drivers rather than the monitor specific drivers.

Did you hook up your LCD via the DVI cable? If you did, then you may not be able to adjust the picture position because it's a digital signal. The digital signal should be correctly positioned all the time, automatically. If you're seeing black bars, you may not have set the resolution correctly. LCD monitors really only have one resolution - anything that's not that one resolution is usually "stretched" to fit, but your monitor may elect to not do that ugly stretching if the manufacturer set it up that way. The correct resolution for your monitor is 1440 * 900.
