When you registered for the course, did you select "Audit" as your grading option? If so, "Audit" means that you did not receive credit or a grade for the course. To "Audit" means that you are registered for the course but are not responsible to take any exams or for any homework.

People normally audit a course if they want to benefit from the lectures but don't need the credit or the grade.

If you did not select "Audit" as your grading option when you registered for the course, contact the Registrar's Office. They will be able to research why your grading option is "Audit" and who did it.

Best wishes!

No, you didn't fail. You weren't signed up to actually take the class. To audit a class is to sit through it without doing it either for credit or for a grade. If you think you were signed up for the class in the first place, you need to check to see what happened. My guess is that you were signed up to audit the class instead of to take it in the first place, and you just didn't know it.

Sounds like an administrative error. Yes, audit means you didn't take the class for credit. And, that means you didn't do assigned homework or take exams. So, if you did tangible homework (papers or something) and took exams, there should be records and you should be able to straighten it out.

Audit means you took the class but opted not to get credit. This could be a mistake. I would talk to your professor.
