I remember some things, but none are nice. I was a victim of sexual abuse by my brothers, and some things are repressed; other things come up when triggered. I feel that my childhood was stolen from me, but I have used the emotional pain to my advantage. I am able to understand abused people, and became a therapist; with my background, I can zero in on those who are victims.

Not remembering doesn't mean too much, but it can mean there was something that you are repressing. You don't want to worry about it or dwell on it. If there is something you are repressing, it will come up by itself when you are able to handle it and deal with it.

I have things that still come up, but am able to process the memory and move on to happier things in the present. The present is the important place to put your energy.

Have a great day.

Very little but there are a couple of incidents I remember from when I was just over 3 years old..
The first was at London Zoo ....I remember the cheetah had spilt his milk ...it disturbed me greatly coz I thought it would starve ...lol

The other was on the way here we stopped at Ceuta in Spanish Morocco & I can remember a little boy acted as our guide ....I also remember being violently ill when we got back to the ship but that's a different story .

The rest is all early childhood years in post war Australia ....scarcity of basic goods , little money , having to find refundable bottles in the parks for us kids to go to the movies...

As for why you havn't remembered much , post war narcosis !

I vividly remember my dad taking me to an incubator in our barn and letting me watch chicks hatching. There were loads of eggs and baby chicks at different stages of hatching. It was the coolest thing, I was two years old and still remember it. But I have no other memories until about 4 yrs old.

My earliest childhood memory is of my maternal grandfather making me paper boats as I sat on his lap. I was between three and four years old back then. I remember taking each boat he made and putting it on top of the TV before climbing back up on his lap again. I cherish this memory because I didn't see him much after that. He passed away while we were in the States a short while later.

Another memory I cherish is falling asleep with my head on my mother's lap while watching the colourful fire works burst in the sky at Disney Land. I also loved the way my mom would always smile at me when she lifted the towel off my face after drying my washed hair as a kid. I love the stories my dad told me and my sister as he had us seated, one on each leg, and slowly made us jump up and down on his leg! I love the games my dad would play with me as a kid, and the way my mom would seat us on her extended legs and swing us up and down. I love the funny phrase my dad used to answer me with when I told him good night every day before I went to sleep. I remember loving the books I borrowed from the library and how excited I was each time I read a new book. I remember the park and the swings and how I used to try to lean waaaaaay back in the swing with my head almost upside down, looking up at the sky. I remember the snow and the snowball fights, and building snow men.

I also remember vividly the night I stood in the street in front of my grandmother's old home in Cairo after returning from the States. Having just left the airport and arrived at that streeet late at night, I can still remember my shock at how different everything was! That state of shock still revisits me from time to time!
