None of the candidates even mentions the name of Bush anywhere when they campaign. So far in all presidential debates not a single candidate -- guiliani, romney, huckabee even mentioned the name of Bush.

If they are truly republican, then why don't they say

"Since Bush presidency has been so successful, I urge voters to vote me because i will reprsent GOP".

I really doubt if they really are even conservative enough.

Isn't it strange that they all voted for his policies and still continue to do so but they act like they disapprove of him?
To publicly endose Bush would be political suicide. Unless you're only going for the 20% vote that still likes the guy.

RPK, are you watching the same election that the rest of us are?

Republican candidates mention Bush all the time. They talk about how his policies are noble, just ill-conceived, or poorly executed. They talk about how he has good intentions, but just doesn't know how to act on them for the greatest good of the country.

Just last week, Huckabee and Romney got in a knock-down drag-out in the press about how Huckabee believes Bush's foreign policy reflects an "arrogant bunker mentality" and Romney came back with "Bush has kept us safe everyday for the last six years since 9/11, and that's not an easy thing to do." (Which, by the way, it isn't.)

I don't know how closely you're really following this elections season, but if you haven't noticed the amount of time the GOP candidates spend either praising or berating the current president, then you're simply not paying enough attention.

Are they not in the race for real ? Why would they raise any thing controversial? Bush is presently very very unpopular in USA. They can't be committing 'Harakiri'. Then they would have to bid farewell to politics.

Leave mention of Bush. Even Hillary can't praise ,often, Bill's years of Presidency, so as to avoid reviving Monica affair.

GOP candidates do not want to be associated with Bush because anybody who would support his policies will surely lose in the election next year.

because most voters hate him, and any support for george bush will be bad for the candidate's polls.
