A four stroke is easier to own since there is no need to mix oil into your fuel. 2 stroke engines require you to mix 2 stroke oil into the gasoline. This requires precise measuring. 4 strokes run on gasoline right out of the pump, just like your car. They are also much cleaner running from an environmental standpoint, which is why more and more 2 stroke applications are moving to 4 stroke. Snowmobiles, outboard motors on boats etc. are all going over to four stroke.
As far a power goes,2 strokes tend to have higher torque and weigh less. Other than that, I'd say they are the same from a power stand point.
Go w/ the 4 stroke.

Well, in my opinion 4 strokes are almost always better because 2 strokes sound like crap. However in use for a weed eater, using a 4 stroke design would make the engine larger and therefore heavier. It would also use more parts and require more maintanence like oil changes and valve adjsutments.

A 2 stroke fires twice as often as a 4 stroke, so it produces more power.
