Does a "Top Contributor" have that honor for the quality or quantity of their answers? No snide remarks, please.

Good question. I got the title all of a sudden after about 75,000 pts...in THREE categories and was shocked to see the categories! I tried so hard for so long answering in Polls and Surveys and a they gave it to me for Singles and Dating and Magazines..and I don't even remember answering in those categories. I will never understand it. Anyway...it is no big deal ...all you get is an orange box under your Avatar. I see a lot of them on people who have hardly answered any questions and they are not really worthy answers either...so what does it all mean?? I have no idea. Don't knock yourself out for it ismy advice...just enjoy yourself on this site.

I had TC myself for a short time. I went and read about it to see what the deal was. The best that I could understand it is that you have answered a lot of questions in one category. As they put it, you are knowledgeable in that area. Has nothing to do with best answers nor the question/questions that you ask, if that had been the case, I would never have got TC. But I know a few folks that seems to answer more questions than I do and they don't get TC, so don't understand that either. I also know that just because you get TC does not mean that you will keep it either.

Top Contributors seem to receive that badge based on the quantity of questions they ask - but I don't know how many that is. I've seen trolls get TC badges, so it's not quality. I don't ask questions, so I don't have one. Hope this helps.

I've read some of the answers and questions of 'top contributor' and based on that random and less than perfect sample, I would have to say that it is not based on quality.

It seems to me as though it is based on participation. Or as it implies, how much someone contributes. What that threshold might be is elusive.

I guess it is somewhat like the point system, why have it? is it an ego-stroking reward?

Yahoo! knows. Me, I just respond to questions that interest me and that I feel I can either entertain with or provide useful information to.

This is probably not one of those answers.

I thought it was based on best answers in one category but I could be wrong. Might be quantity of answers also.

I'm really not sure. I had that badge for a short time several months ago, and I really don't know how I got it. I'm glad that it was removed.... orange is not a good color for me. From what I have read in the YA guidelines and such, there was not a clear definition.

No idea. It just popped up for me one day, not sure if it has to do with the # of answers, or what. I know if you stop answering questions in one catagory, it drops off in your profile. Maybe it has to do with how often you participate in a particular category.

I don't know the qualifications for the honor.
I have read info about TC but nothing is
clear to me. I have never had that distinction.
