Yes, I have. I got a radio from PepsiCo one year and took it back to the store after Christmas and got credit to buy something else. It was worth $129! Big companies can afford big gifts. LOL!

I just don't feel Xmassy right now as the last couple of presents I just received showed neither party new who I was or what I was into. One was a game I will never play, just like last year. The other was a group of family cleaning house and cooking dinner, which would be great if it did not preclude me from doing other things as I have to teach them how to clean and what not to cook. They showed up at dinner time to clean up and that was just wrong. I had to cancel a video with a friend I hardly ever see and his children because I had to show them what all had to be cleaned and how. It was definitely a gift I wanted to return. It cost me a lot of heartache this season. I sucked it up, however, and did what had to be done and received the present as it was partially mine and partially someone else's.

I do not return gifts. I have some gifts decades old and they are still in their boxes to this very moment.

I value their sentiment.

I only give gifts that share my sentiments with others and I hope I never get those back.

Last night I thought I wanted to send all my presents I ever received back, to let the people who gave them to me recognize that I never forgot or disgarded their feelings. I wanted to let them now how much I cared and how much these momento's meant to me. I have way more of these momentos than I could possibly hold onto and I think that is part of the problem. Giving the gift back may in fact be a gift in itself. I don't know.

A friend pointed out that this read hateful or angry.

Perhaps it did. It was not intended to. It was intended to tell you how I felt. I felt like giving and not receiving. I felt like the sentiment of the gifts I received last night were lacking. I felt like giving them back to show others the difference between gifts they gave me with feeling and gifts they gave me with no thought at all.

As someone pointed out to me that may not be a gift that others want, the knowledge of how they either never knew you or how they knew you so little that they forgot how to care.

At any rate , my presents remain mine and their present remain mine too.

No returns.
