Depending on what state you are in, it may be illegal. If you are in California, if you are 16-17 you can't work more than 4 hours on a school day and must be off by 10pm/ 12pm preceeding a nonschool holiday. And the younger you are, the less hours you can work. If you feel that your school work is going down hill, say something to the boss and tell them you need to work less hours. They can't fire you for asking that. And what you get paid is a little over the federal minimum wage, but still. 7 bucks an hour is nothing today. Maybe they are doing that to avoiding paying more money to adults that would demand higher wages. I've seen it before were companies take advantage of younger workers- don't e afraid though and speak up.

It relies upon. In Massachusetts the place I grew up, i ought to commence working at 14, yet ought to no longer artwork greater then 20 hours a week and ought to no longer artwork previous 7pm. those have been rules put in place to make useful that childrens which includes myself does no longer be exploited for much less costly hard artwork. I do think of it quite is effectual to artwork as a youngster, it teaches duty and the cost of a dollar. notwithstanding, if it takes faraway from training or wellness, except it quite is quite mandatory, i've got self assurance sixteen could nicely be too youthful. yet in spite of the incontrovertible fact that at 18, you may have not any selection.

You should look at your job as being a positive experience. I know the hours are horrible but that's true for a lot of jobs. Your job is giving you a real look at the working world so if you go onto college, you won't graduate with such unrealistic expectations such as wanting a six-figure income at the start. Also, you know how to present yourself at job interviews and you can follow a schedule. Many young people who graduate from college have never learned either of those. This is especially true for those who had their parents pay all of their expenses and didn't have to work while they attended college.

Nope, welcome to the real world. The sad fact is that businesses will pay the least amount of money possible to their workers, and expect twice as much work as they can do. Find out what minimum wages is in your state, and make sure they are paying you at least that much. if not, you can sue. Either way, you can always quit and find a better job.

depending on the laws in your state, it is almost certainly illegal. I'm pretty sure that, at 16, you are not allowed to work past 11pm on school nights?!

You can certainly report them, but then you run the risk of their not wanting to hire ANYBODY your age, and then nobody has a job. it's not an easy choice.
