there's nothing 'quality' about the kind of people i enjoy being around...

Warmth, good sense of humor, fun-loving, spontaneous, able to laugh at themselves, kind, courteous, thoughtful of others, generous, intelligent, honest, straight-forward, decent, takes responsibility for their actions and choices, serious when it counts, reliable, true-blue, able to talk seriously about silly things and silly about serious things, willingness to take a few risks now and then, and preferably skewed one or two degrees off the plain of the elliptic from normal.

Cheerfulness. I realize no one is happy all the time, and I am willing to help my friends with their burdens but I also think there is a time and place to just put your "game face" on and act happy even if you don't feel it. ;-))
