From a happy old man (75 yrs) who was raised a Christian, was trained as a scientist (many, if not most, of whom are non believers) and is now a doubter about most of the complex theology that the many denominations of Christianity (About 33,820 sects) believe in. But when I was a child Christmas meant a lot to me and although I was raised during the depression and my family was poor we always exchanged gifts and got something from Santa. The joy I felt at 6-7 yrs. at the Christmas carols and reenactment of the Christmas story that were sung and acted out in my public school knew no bounds.

Christmas and Christ as a teacher of a good way of life still mean a lot to me. I doubt he was God or even the son of God; he was probably a deluded ancient schizophrenic or bi-polar victim. But what he taught about love and the way to interact with ones fellow humans rings true. He was a mendicant but a great philosopher too.

You don't "have to" exchange gifts just give of yourself with childlike good will; a gift is a good way to symbolize your love and good will. Give especially to the unfortunate and love and give even to your enemies; that is what he taught. You'll be surprised at the effect loving and giving to others does to your depressed mood and outlook on life; it even has a remarkable effect on your enemies.

So sorry if this sounds like preaching but you asked. I am not a man of the cloth. Have a very Happy Christmas!

It's about Jesus' Birthday. hence CHRISTmas see, it has christ in it which is another word for Jesus. These days, people just think of it as "gifts, gifts, gifts" theyre forgetting the true meaning. Happy Holidays to you!
