the determinant of a matrix A = (a*d) - (b*c) where
A = { a b }
.......{ c d }
so we have:
a = 1-c²
b = 2-c
c = 1+c
d = 1

((1-c²) * 1) - ((2-c) * (1+c)) = 1-c² - (2+c-c²)
= 1 - c² - 2 - c + c² = -1 - c

the answer is b
