Otherwise, what's the point of the protector, right? Does it mean that limited exposure is ok? Obviously it won't be worn in a downpour, but it snows a lot up here in Maine and rain is also fairly common. Thanks for any responses.

Probably. Because i have a spray for my suede boots and it says it should keep it stain-free.

Yes, I wear a different jacket in rain and snow... My leather jacket is over 50 years old and still looks good It was my grandfathers jacket and he was a slender man so the jacket fits great even though I am female

The cow doesn't need the protectant, so you should be alright without it too ! Right ? ( just kidding ) Protectant should help it in any weather and keep it soft and looking good too.
