I used to work as a pizza delivery person part time for extra money. How come some people don't tip us? Is there no consideration for the fact we are putting ourselves at risk on the road, to deliver a pizza because the person is too lazy to pick it up themselves.

We tend to remember the addresses of chronic non-tippers. It is a known fact non-tippers will receive mediocre to poor service. Often, delivery drivers at the location I worked at would leave a chronic non-tippers pizza and grab known tippers or new customers pizzas as a priority.

We also tend to "forget" all the condiments for non-tippers. If they call the store and request we bring some out to them, we will usually take our time and bring them out within a few hours.

Also, the person not being able to afford a tip is NOT a viable excuse. If they can't afford a tip, how can they afford $30 in pizza?

Why do these same cheapskates get upset when they receive poor service. They know they don't tip.

Yet they insist on the same treatment as someone who routinely tips 10 dollars?!

We have to make a living too you know.

And yes, I quit because of all the poor tippers now adays.

You can't stereotype either, because some seemingly poor people tip big, yet rich people don't tip.

Very simply, a tip is a gratuity, or gift, that someone gives for good service! It is not something that you are owed. If the company charges for delivery, which many do, people are going to consider that they have already paid extra for the service.

A good part of the reason that you were not tipped would be your attitude! You say that the people are "too lazy" and are "cheapskates"! This says a lot about your mindset. If you are doing a good job, and seem happy, you will get more from people than if you are grumpy and rude!

The idea that you will "forget" items if the people do not tip you well is very close to extortion. If my order was missing something, I would be on the phone to the manager. If it was not delivered promptly, I would expect that the cost of my entire order be refunded! If one of my employees was doing this, I would fire them on the spot!!!!

I will tip well for service. If I am charged for the service once, I may tip, but the tip wil be a lot less! You seem to think that you deserve tips. If you provide prompt, professional, courteous, accurate service, you will get tips. If you provide less than that, you will get a lot less!

I work for a pizza place, they charge a delivery fee, and regardless of what the driver's will post on here, they do get a portion of that fee. For example my store charges $1.60 but I get a $1.10. However that's for mileage, not for wear and tear on the vehicle, so it's always a good idea to tip. (Remember, these people KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, and some of the drivers are crazy, we do make our money off tips as most stores only pay minimum wage, depending on what state and store it is, the store might even count your tip as tip credit towards minimum wage) My advice is to use a coupon, if you don't have one, just say you have one, if you get the price wrong the person on the phone will usually correct you, just accept the correction. This way the food is discounted, give what's left over as a tip to the driver.

The query is why do you? I regularly deliver the supply boy no less than $five, for the causes you recounted. I frequently am a 20%+ tipper at a restaurant - but in addition will make a factor of giving $.25 to a crappy server, without reference to the invoice. To individuals like Liz you are going to certainly not get a rapid pizza due to the fact you're low priced - they usually recognise this. Most locations hold notes within the laptop, that is why they give it two hours later (an exaggeration, from a truly "peach", Im certain). I am a well tipper, who additionally labored in tuition as a supply man - my $five tip (my invoice is frequently no less than $20) will get my pizza to me in not up to a part hour, each time - from three miles away. If you consider they deliver a crap approximately you and your no tip - or your one million pizza every week industry - I wont even inform you what they're hanging into it. And giggling thier "no tipped" asses off when they give it to you. Heres a pattern: spit, ***, dust off the ground...

most rich people don't tip they are tight wads. I always try to tip the best I can. my husband has delivered pizza and i worked as an in store manager and I hated to see him n ot recieve tips when it was so cold out. I always told our customers on the phones to please not forbget to tip our drivers as they don't recieve any money in the orders you make. they make only $4.00 an hour and 10% on an order, so nothing. Most people didn't know and when our drivers came back they had a nice tip. also we had a gay guy in our store as a delivery driver and during the day he would make over $100.00 in tips each time he worked. he had a great attitude so that helps as well, he was so positive. so these are reasons why, plus some people just don't care they feel that drivers are beneath them.

Well, in my experience, it evens out. Some people leave shockingly good tips, and others nothing. Some people are just plain disrespectful and won't tip because you're just a pizza guy. I'm not being racist, but black people are amazingly cheap. I don't even expect tips from them. Yes, people are too lazy to pick up food, and it's even worse when they don't tip. I always go out to get pizza, and even when I get takeout from a sitdown place, I leave a tip.

I know that since the companies have begun charging for delivery, most people think that the driver gets that so no more tipping is necessary.

Because they are not at a restaurant where they have to tip a certain percentage
