I love movies on DVD and have a huge collection of them but there is just something about seeing a movie on the big screen. Most of the Marvel Movies (X-men, Spiderman, etc.) tend to lose something on the home screen. Imagine not seeing Pearl Harbor's aerial fights on only the home screen it totally loses the effect of being in the fight. Underworld or Van Helsing with all of their special effects during fight scenes and falls. You feel like you're going with them. Action movies like the Die Hard series also lose alot, the chase scenes and explosions seem more real. I noticed alot of people duck when the car was coming at them in Live Free or Die Hard, you just don't do that at home. I would totally miss the audience participation, I saw the re-release of Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail and it was the best experience ever. Most of the audience knew the songs and participated in the dialog and the lady sitting next to me was laughing so hard she was crying and hanging on the railing. You don't get that at home. As long as there are theaters, I'll be there. We are already getting a group together to go to the IMAX to see "The Dark Knight". I can't wait!

Watching movies at home on the Dvd player is alot cheaper these days, but it is nice to go see a good film at the theater specially cause its on a big screen and loud!

If a *really* interesting movie comes out, or if I'm invited by a good friend, I'll go to a theater. Usually, tho, it's fine to snuggle with my SO & watch a DVD.

I really like the atmosphere in movie theaters!
But I can't shout at the screen, put up my feet and everything else!
I definitely prefer watching them in theaters.

i go to movie theaters because renting a movie is dumb because blockbuster sucks and everytime you rent a movie from them it skips. buying a dvd is more expensive then going to the movies so i just stick to going to the theater and if the movie is great. i will buy it.

I really LOVE the theatre vibe. Its fun, its not the same old place (like my house!), the popcorn is better and its just fun. BUT - living in Southern California... you have to plan in advance or take out a small loan for a movie date. A casual night out can run you over $50....

Yeah, i'll do my netflix and popcorn in a bag.
