Hi, I am an 18 year old male, about to graduate from highschool. Unfortunately, I have no idea of what I want to do. My courses are pretty crummy; only maths and sciences (and english). Marks are in the mid-high 80 range, not to spectacular and I am open to all suggestions.
The only thing I look for in a job, as of right now, is money (pretty shallow I know). All suggestions are more than welcome. I thank you in advance.

Apprenticeship programs are THE way to make money for people in your situation. You can pass the math and English, it sounds like, and you will start with good pay and benefits, and only go up. Check with your state apprenticeship coordinator (department of labor) and check out the 1000+ careers available by apprenticeship.

Son, your courses are in high demand nowadays, and your scores aren't bad at all. I don't know what you've done to get yourself into college, such as taking the SAT or other admissions exams and finding a way to finance college, but, DO IT! You could get a job like "Jon B" says, but you could earn much more money and have a much more secure professional life if you pursued a college education. Your highschool counselors can guide you in a direction of what major to select, but always remember that you can change that a multitude of times while in college, and your college professors can guide you into which courses to take in your Junior and Senior years. The first couple of years will be taking the basics, which is pretty much the same for everyone, and sometimes I feel is a waste of time, BUT, I can tell you that, when you graduate, and have that very nice diploma you can frame and hang on your wall, you'll see then, if not now, just how important and valuable it is. I wish my two kids had understood that. They were raised by their mother in a culture that could barely spell c-o-l-l-e-g-e, much less attend successfully. But they still have time. They're older than you, by 4 and 5 years. Don't waste time. The college diploma is "worth it's weight in gold". I love the three of them I have hanging on my walls, and when I applied for jobs, the interviewer liked them too. I got hired easily, and your grades are better than mine were, so, DO IT!!! God Bless you.

The money from a job now may seem appealing but you would be locking yourself into a lower wage category. Better to get at least an associates degree now and go to university later if your interests require more ed. Or you could start your own business.
Either way you have to figure out what you like and what makes you happy- the money will follow.

I was in your place, 12 years ago. I signed up for the military, was stationed in England, saw the world and met tons of interesting people. Learned a lot, and now I have an excellent job. I never regretted for a second. I served 6 years USAF.
