the 24 hours waiting period is just a sham to convince you that the eggs will hatch almost instantly. very few people know that the "water purifier" actually contains eggs along with the salt. it just adds to the "magical powers" image of the sea monkeys. if you put the eggs in before 24 hours, you'd still have to wait 24 hours for the eggs in the purifier to hatch and even if you dont add the eggs, the eggs in the purifier would still hatch after 24 hours

I think the reasoning behind waiting the 24 hours is to get the water up to the correct temperature (around room temperature) if you use cold water. Most water conditioners (to remove chlorine or chloramine) should work instantly.

If the salt mix is included in the conditioner (rather than with the packet of eggs) it souldn't make a difference - when hatching brine shrimp (what sea monkeys are) the salt and eggs are in the same packet, so the salt will mix within minutes. I've never waited 24 hrs to add the eggs/salt to the water when I'm setting up hatcheries for the brine shrimp, and I've had good hatches.

You don't have to wait 24 hours. The water isn't going to change as time goes by.
