UK chart Christmas number one....?

Question

Cowell gets many weeks of TV publicity for his act at no expense - the public pay for it, then they buy the terrible single. Reality show winners have now hijacked our Christmas chart. Can we please go back to buying music by true artists, who write their songs, play instruments, and achieve their fame on their own merits?

here here i agree. and the thing is it goes on down loads now. i remember when a artist had to work hard to get a number one and it was there original work. now its some nieve person on million pound contract which Simon cowell will make 2 or 3 times that. bring back the original artist. but htat is down to the people, just stop down loading the dam song,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I would say the likes of Ben Haenow and Sam Bailey are proper artists. They are not youngsters who have just achieved fame, but have slogged it out for years, performing in pubs and clubs, and have now achieved their big breaks.

And stop moaning about the X factor single being number one. What would be the alternative? If there was no X factor single, then all of the same old same old festive 'classics' (Slade, Wizzard, Shakin Stevens, and most depressingly, Mud) would get to number one every year on the download factor.

At least with the X factor single we get a new number one each year.

I hope that everyone buys another copy of Fairytale of New York with Shane McGowan and Kirsty McColl its simply my favourite, its not saccharine like all the rest and has great melody. As to Leon he was useless and the song worse.

I agree 100%.. the Pogues & Kirsty McColl should be number 1, not Leon!! Fairytale of New York is a much better song with much better singers.
