Firstly killing any one is not a good thing to do. Secondly the soldiers who kill enemy on borders are doing their duty for which they are engaged, they don't kill any one just like that but when they see that some intruder is trying to attack them or the country they do it in self defense. This principle of self defense also applies in the criminal law applicable to civilians. In case any person kills another person not intentionally but in order to protect himself or any other person or persons in whom he has interest & whose life is in danger, or protecting the property belonging to him or someone in whom he has interest, this will be covered under the provisions of self defense for which such killing will not be considered an offence punishable otherwise under the Penal provisions of law. In your question if a person kills a person who was attacking or was going to kill a member of his family, then in doing so such killing will be said to be done in self defence, if the killing happened even if minimum required force was used to resist such an attacker from committing such an attack or killing of any person of his family. This the legal position in such a case.

What are you reffering to. A few years back two Marines were prosecuted by the US gov't to the fullest extend of the law and all evidence supported the fact that they followed the rules of engagment. They ID themselves, asked for surronder, and returned fire when it was directed at them, the only thing they did not do is give a warning shot which is a rule that can be skipped if fired upon.

Soldiers that do their job and bring their men home alive are rewarded not soldiers that are there for the sole basis off killing, no soldier serves their nation just to kill

The soldiers are doing their duty by killing the enemies to protect you or the people and the country and they deserve appreciation. A civilian is supposed or having the right to kill anyone since their is law and authorities to implement justice and punishment, the best thing you can do is to identify the culprit to the concerned authority to take action.

Killing a combatant as a soldier in a properly declared war is far different than taking the law into your own hands to become a one-person crusader delivering justice out of a barrel of a gun.

Killing to prevent the murder of another person is also justified, but not for something abstract like their honor. There needs to be a clear and present danger.

It's war declared by the government of two countries and to protect country or unauthrised entry in the country, soldiers have to open firing on the order of their superior and kill the enemies, hence it's not a criminal act. becuase they are doing so on the order of govt for common interest.

Soldiers are posted on the frontiers with other countries to prevent smuggling, unauthorised entry of foreignes as well as unauthorised exit of locals.Soldiers are trained and paid to shoot enemies!
Ordinary citizens residing in the secured countryt, are not expected to take law into their own hands, but to report the matter to the police.
So the comparison is not warranted.

war is a politics of blood bath and politics is a bloodless war.army is a structure created by corporate driven democratic governments to their own ends and has nothing to do with common publics.the words enemy and soldier are conveniently coined by war mongering governments and the poor soldiers are mere pawns.
