Only in recent years, I've noticed a drastic rise in the homeless population.
Almost every street corner are beggars, that look filthy! They sleep under bridges, in their cars, anywhere they can find.
I have honestly never seen a homeless person until about 10 years ago, but now I see them everywhere!
What's happening?

Predatory mortgage lenders-record breaking numbers of foreclosures-budgets to the Social Service Agencies (including job placement assistance) being slashed to fund a war. It is no longer just a few anymore. It is parents with children, the elderly, the under served Vietnam war veterans, the mildly mentally ill. A crappy economy-illegals who work for no benefits and low pay ..., jobs being outsourced to other countries....
Higher percentage of taxes taken from the middle class (33%) and lower for the wealthy (18%) for the "Trickle Down" economy scheme. Sky rocketing fuel prices resulting in higher priced nessesities of food, heat, est.

70% of homeless people in the U.S. have schizophrenia and are unemployable, anti-social mental cases. Simple as that. They should be put in mental homes. Many of them are put in jail for various crimes but usually they end up back on the street less than a year later. The rest of the homeless are drug addicts or alcoholics. A few might be children, but everyone knows that homeless children are always given shelter the instant a cop or social worker finds out about it.

The cost of living is getting higher and the wages are not. Many homeless people also have mental illnesses and often fall between the cracks. Or many are drug addicts who can't get clean because their brains are so fried. There are many reasons why someone is homeless. As a child, no one dreams of being homeless.

A lot of it is because of this great economy of the conservatives!You notice that they answer it is all their(homeless) fault for being homeless! Of course losing their jobs to outsourcing then losing their homes to foreclosure has nothing to do with it!Because if you lost your home to foreclosure it means your credit is in the toilet so have fun trying to find an apartment that will rent to you!Then those conservative managrs who get 5-10% raises a year act like they are doing you a big favor giving you a quater an hour raise every year and a half!
BTW- they only want to give you a quater raise so they can keep the labor costs low so they'll get a bigger bonus at the end of the year!

yes, and it makes me sick.
to think that there are people living on the streets, especially in winter! i begin to cry. seriously. i was driving down a street in my town the other day, and saw this guy sitting outside a store with a big coat on, and a bag of groceries next to him. i got so emotional. if there was anything i could do to help them other then donate to charities, i would.
something should be done.

I've been seeing a surge in homeless families. It's a heartbreaker.

Xmas brings em' out. Many homeless are mental cases. War heroes etc. They can't adjust anymore.
The worse you look being a beggar ...the better it is to get your booty.
Some of these folks make $50K a year or more. Who's a mental case?!
However they may be, most who you are lucky enough to see ...are out and about cuz it's pay day. Xmas time and everbody feels jolly, guilty and wants to shed some of that guilt by helping a poor, homless folk.
They could all hide out and be in a nice shelter with food and stuff but no ...out to hang out around busy corners and shopping centers.

Who knows...there's about 10 things running through my mind, but I can't get them out.....In Atlanta, there are TONS of homeless people...

The only times homeless are noticed is during a republican administration, if a Dem is in the WH its pretty much ignored.
