Sunshine was pestering Matt about what he was getting her for Christmas. Little did she know that Matt, like most men, had not yet bought her a gift, even though it was now Christmas Eve morning. He had been thinking about what to get her since she told him 3. All I want for Christmas is a nice new saddle for my horse. He had every intention of getting her one, but he knew the livery always stocked up this time of year, and he might get a bargain by waiting. Hank, the stableman, often laid in too many just to make sure anybody who wanted one would not have to wait for a special order.
Teasing Sunshine, Matt said "1. A man can’t even think with you jabbering all the time. How am I supposed to come up with a good gift if I can't think." "You didn't get my gift yet?!"Sunshine said. Matt said, "I'll get too it soon, then playfully asked "2. Darlin'? I do believe it is time to snuggle." "Not on your life, cowboy" Sunshine replied. Not till you get my gift. Pointing at him she sternly said "5. YOU!! HIGH NOON!! FRONT STREET!! I'll walk you around to every shop in town if I have to."
So at high noon on Christmas Eve, Matt met Sunshine on Front Street, but by then he has already met with Hank and found a nice saddle at a bargain price. He had Hank hold it and told him, I'll be around later.
Walking up Front Street, they met Doc. "All done your Christmas shopping?" Sunshine asked him hoping to show Matt that not all men were shopping procratinators. "Ummm, well, not exactly," 8. Doc answered as he tugged at his ear and wiped his mouth. "Men!" Sunshine said shaking her head as she continued escorting Matt down the street.
A few stores down, they met Ms. Kitty who was looking a bit peaked from the night before. "Merry Christmas," Miss Kitty, Matt said as Sunshine did her best to ignore the woman. "Don't tell me you are out Christmas shopping too at this late date," Matt said. "What? Oh, yea." Miss Kitty said distractedly, adding "4. Will you take those noisy spurs off ?! My head is throbbing and that noise isn't helping any. Isn't there a noise ordinance in this town?" Sunshine laughed enjoying Kitty's discomfort and said "My Matt looks good in those spurs. I got them for him last Christmas." 6. Miss Kitty just rolled her eyes and took a pill for her migraine. Waving her hand in dismissal, Miss Kitty continued on up the street.
Reaching the end of Front Street, Matt said to Sunshine, "Come in to the livery with me for a minute, I need to pick up something from Hank." "We don't have time for that Matt if you evergoing to get me a gift," Sunshine replied urging him toward the Millinary. Grinning, Matt took her hand and led her into the livery stable. "Look around a bit while I talk to Hank" Matt said and went toward the back of the stable. Standing near the entrance, tapping her foot impatiently, Sunshine scanned the array of saddles and riding gear near the door. Spotting a lovely looking woman's saddle, she walked over to examine it. The leather work was exquisite and Sunshine thought "That would be a perfect saddle for me." Looking closer to check the price, she turned over the card attached to it. Instead of a price, she saw a note the read "Merry Christmas Sunshine. Love you, Matt." At first she didn't quite understand, but suddenly it hit her. Leaping in the air, she turned and rushed toward the back of the livery stable yelling "10. Hee Haw MattBaby....I looooooooooove you." Laughing happily, Matt took her in his arms and sajd "I love you too, Sunshine. Merry Christmas" and wrapped her in a big bear hug. Holding him close, Sunshine whispered "2. Darlin'? I do believe it is time to snuggle." With that she took his hand and headed for home saying "Merry Christmas" to everyone she met along the way.
Used number 2 twice, but it seemed to fit well. Merry Christmas Sunshine.
