I wear my wedding ring every time I leave the house, if I am able to get to it in a timely fashion (ie., running kids to school). My father has never worn a wedding ring and has been married and divorced two times, both times because of infidelity. Plus he was also engaged recently, now that is off. I feel those who do not wear rings show a lack of commitment. If they were unconditionally yours, they should want to make sure everyone knows they are off limits.

I always wear mine except if I'm doing something with chemicals or messy baking (the dough gets stuck in the prongs). Hubby doesn't usually wear his. It started because he couldn't wear it at his factory job..no jewelery allowed. He was putting it on when he got home and wearing it on his days off, but because he didn't wear it all the time it irritated and bugged him when he had it on. Then he became a Massage Therapist, once again he can't wear it at work. It really doesn't bother me. He's married and faithful and he doesn't need a ring to remind him of that. My dad has always worked with machinery and held jobs where rings are dangerous (he hasn't worn one since his 20's when they had to cut his ring off because it was stuck in the machinery) and my parents have been married for 38 years. A funny little fact is that on the occasions that my hubby wears his ring, he gets hit on or has women looking at him. Without his ring on...nothing.

When I was a kid on the farm, in the '40's, my uncle vaulted over a fence (put his hand on the fence post and swung his legs over the barbed wire). His ring caught on the fence post and tore all the skin & meat off his finger. I was just 10 ft behind him. We got him back to the farm house, where my grandma amputated his finger. I have a very big phobia about wearing rings, any rings, including wedding rings. Some people have a phobia about spiders, or snakes, or heights, etc. Mine is about rings. My wife understands, especially after she met my uncle.

well this is something i know about... i have been married for 12 years now and in all those years my husband has removed his ring maybe twice... he has even rubbed the detail off since he wears it always. He has gotten on to me in the past because i take my rings off at night or when i use bleach and stuff like that he says that rings are like the marriage they can handle the rough stuff.........

I haven't had mine off except for a cleaning in years and my husband only takes his off to golf. I have a friend who is VERY happily married, but he does not wear it during the week as he is a physical therapist and it gets in his way during manual therapy. My brother-in-law didn't used to wear it as he is an electrician, but now has one that won't get him electrocuted! Mostly, I think that there are lots of legitimate reasons to not wear them, but am glad that I can wear mine always.

Ring, if you are committed. No ring if you are not and looking to date other people.
