In Australia, is it illegal to drive behind a fire truck? Is it illegal to not get out of the way of an emergency vehicle? Anyone know where i can reference this online?

In almost all places it's illegal to follow an emergency vehicle.

While googling this, though, I found this story....

"A man who drove a fire engine filled with naked passengers around a small New South Wales town in Australia has been fined $1350 (£575).

The man, 42, from south-west New South Wales was found guilty of driving a fire engine without consent.

Young Local Court heard that in April this year, Anthony James McDonell drove the fire truck, filled with naked passengers around the town of Young with lights and sirens operating.

He has been ordered to do 200 hours community service, has lost his licence for a year and has been fined $1350 for drunk driving. None of the naked passengers were available for comment."

In Australia it is illegal to tailgate a firetruck when it is in an alarm situation (e.g.lights flashing and siren sounding) as the truck may enter a situation where smoke obscures all visibility and if the truck stops suddenly, as it is entitled to in an emergency, any tailgating vehicle may rear end the truck( as I have seen them do) and cause more casualties or worse, disable the truck equipment just when it is needed.
All traffic must, by law, clear a path for any vehicle exhibiting lights and sounding the siren, but only then, without the lights and siren they are just another vehicle on the road.
