Do Sunflowers Face East

Sunflowers follow the sun. The sun rises in the east so depending on your growing area they my get more eastern lighting.

Its enjoyable to watch the flowers follow the sun during the day and to watch an overcast day. They still are affected by ultra violet rays buts its not as apparent as a totally sunny day.

The sun. They always grow to face the morning sun to get the most light.

If you look at your sunflower really carefully you can actually see it shifting to face different directions throughout the day and over time, since the sun's position shifts a little bit from the start of the year to the end.

The rising sun (East) is the most gentle, particularly with its blue wave length spectrum. While Sunflowers follow the sun when budding, they turn to the east to protect their seeds from the hot mid-day and afternoon sun.

They grow facing the sun, and they get the most sun (in most locales) by facing east. They're simply more obviously heliotropic than many other plants.
