Pulled the cord but can't lift the door. There is no door handle and it wont budge from the bottom. Should I unplug the device from the power outlet?

The little trolley moves back and forth on the chains when activated, but it is disconnected from another part attached to the door. Thank you for your help!

I think I know what your problem is. The door stopped working properly because you have a broken "helper" spring at the top of the door. Your opener can't lift the door if these springs are broken. The reason I suspect they are broken is because you can't move the door manually after pulling the track disconnect cord. The springs are there to compensate for the weight of the door.

These can be dangerous to replace unless you know what you are doing. Call in a professional.

It sounds like you have a broken spring on the door.. you will have one of two types, a torsion spring which is on a shaft across the top of the door, or you have extension springs which runs down the sides of the horizontal track,, if they are the extension springs, that is something the home owner can do, you have to raise the door up and clamp it up in the air to remove the springs, take them to your local door company and have them get you the proper spring to match what you have. Door springs are calculated to the weight of the door, so you do not want to get the wrong ones or the door wont run proper and you can tear up your door and or operator. If it is a broken torsion spring, then call your local door company up to install a new spring, unless you have the proper tools and know exactaly what you are doing you can get hurt changing them out,, but they are the better spring to have for the runability of the door.. good luck .......

Your door should open with two fingers, that's it. If it doesn't there must be a spring that's broken and your going to have to call someone like "Overhead door company" and tell them what's wrong. Get the name off the unit so they'll know what type of spring you'll need.

Most of them have a handle hanging down from the overhead track. Pull it and it will unlatch from the drive (chain or screw drive). Then you should be able to grab the garage door handle and pull it up.

I agree with Bare B and Cowboydoc - sounds like you have a broken spring. Or it might be jammed in some other way.

Should be a rope hanging down (red) pull on this then lift the door by hand.
