Okay, My boyfriend last name is Trainer. If I have a son I want to name him James. Is it wrong to give him the nickname Jim?

I just thought it was funny when I thought of it. I don't know if I would actually go through with calling him Jim because I laugh everytime I say it. lol

I think you should call him James. It sounds very classy and is a nice name. If you don't laugh, you could call him Jim. He could also go by Jimmy, but that makes me laugh harder, so whatever you feel comfortable with! James Addison Trainer is a good name.

NO there is nothing wrong with that i dated a guy named james and he went by jim,jimmy and james. not only that it is your son you can call him what you want. i have a justin and i call him just i also have a jordan and i call him gorge you might start out with jim but hell he might end up with bug or even J.T. you know James Trainer

Jim is sort of ... eh. Not that great a nick name. James sounds better. More sophisticated. Don't forget, he's going to grow up fast enough and will not want to be cute little jimmy trainer.

I was going to say no but I see how some people will make fun of him. Do you like Jim better than Jimmy? Or if you hyphenate both your last names like Smith-Trainer it wouldn't make that big of a deal.

I think that James would be more suiting, if you want to call him Jim, just name him Jim. But he is your son and you have full responsibility over him, so you do what you think is best.

Well no. Nicknames come everywhere. Just have a good reason on why you call him Jim. They call me Paris as a nickname and my name is Alicia. So just when ppl ask you why Jim have a good reason.
