All colleges these days require foreign languages as a part of the core curriculum. It's not just Obama who thinks it's a good idea. Studying another language helps the student to grasp the nuances of his own language. Americans often treat someone who speaks stumbling English as a second language like second class citizens. At least they can make their thoughts and needs known in something other than their native tongue. Yet, Americans look down on them. Nowhere has Obama said that speaking a second language will guarantee you success in life. That's up to you.
