i had a c section for my 1st daughter, and i was up and moving by the 3rd day. i also had alot of complications. i would wait a week just to make sure your incision is not going to come open then you should be fine to go to the doctor or grocery shopping, dont do it all on the same day remember your still recovering, but i went back to work after 4 weeks so dont be stressed about it.

They told me to not drive for 2 weeks. I had a problem and had to see my ob at 1 week. I asked him about when I could drive, and he said technically, I could drive as soon as I felt ready. Because I was having some other issues (a kidney infection), I was on a lot of pain meds. He said the most important thing was to be off of those first.
As for the healing from a c-section... It was pretty painful to move around for the first 4-5 days afterwards, but not unbearable. I was told not to lift anything heavier than my daughter in her carseat. The pain meds they gave me made it to where I had no problems taking care of my newborn... other than nighttime sleepiness as I was trying to feed her. My incision healed faster than most. It was completely sealed within a week. I still have stomach numbness two months later, but the main pain part of the healing was gone by 3 1/2 weeks.
For driving, I'd recommend going off of how your body feels. Think about if you have to slam on the breaks real fast. Your body needs to be at least up to that. It was about 2 weeks after I got out of the hospital before I felt okay for that.

i had a c-section 3 1/2 weeks ago and at week 2 you will be able to drive if everything goes well. you won't want or be able to do much that 1st week. you may not be released after your 48-72hrs if you don/t have help. it's still surgery and it does take time to heal. it does hurt, that's all i'll say about the pain. e-mail me if you have anymore questions. hthrschrdr@yahoo.com

with my first two csections I felt fine to before 2 weeks that is what the doctors told me. I waited 2 weeks. Then with my third I needed 1 month and it still hurt.

I waited about 4 weeks. My doctor said six weeks but also said that once I could slam on the breaks and not have pain that it would be ok to drive, and to also be off of the pain pills.

i feel ya girlfriend........i drove home from the hospital. Be sensible and in touch with how your body is healing, and if it hurts......don't do it!. You can even pick up the baby IF you do it right.....ask the nurses to show you.....they know you don't have a maid. C-sections usually heal faster than natural births.....less trauma to the tissues, and you still have enhanced bloodflow from the pregnancy. Don't worry....everything will work out. Bright Blessings

when i had a c-section, i had no one to help me. i did eveything by myself...and i did pay for it...it took a lot longer to heal, they thought they would have to do surgery on it, for it too heal better, just take it easy, if you need to drive, take your time and be very careful, first priority is your new baby and you, if you don't heal, the more tougher it will be to take care of your baby..

two weeks.
If you have questions, talk to your doc. Years ago, it was like 6 weeks, not anymore.
