i just started on birth control.
but i can't remember to take it at all. i've tried setting alarms and since the first day i took it i didn't remember until, 9 at night. most of the time at nine, i'm not somewhere, where i can take a pill.
so i'm not having very good luck with it.
Now for the question,
Can I call the gyno and ask if i can switch to a chewable birthcontrol? [it would help with the timing, and the fact that sometimes, i just can't take pills no matter how small or how much water i drink.]
Or maybe ask to get the shot?
or should i wait until i have my next appiontment in three months to tell her it's not working out?
or does anyone have any advice other advice?

Try taking it before you go to sleep. It should be around the same time every night or within a half hour either before or after.

Just be aware, that even with the chewable birth control, they require you to drink a full 8 ounce glass of water afterwards. Talk with your doctor about other forms of hormonal birth control, like the patch or the ring, which won't have to be applied every day.

Just take the pill at 9 pm if that is the best time for you to remember it. That is fine as long as you take it at the same time every day.
My daughter always had to take pills with a spoon of honey. Some people use applesauce or yogurt. Just put your pill in the spoon of food and eat it down. It is food you don't have to chew, just swallow it. Then drink some water.

if you can't take it on time then don't use it. if you don't take it at the same time then its just useless!

talk to your gyno about the patch or another method like an IUD or the new rings they've come out with because they might be a better option for you.

if you want protection now then talk to you gyno before three months but if your not in a big rush then just wait till your next appointment.

I used to take the pill at night, right after I brushed my teeth....my doc recommended that I do that so I wouldn't get nausous and it seemed to work. Time of day doesn't matter so much as consistenly taking them.
I'm against Depo because its been linked to delayed conception/osteoporosis.
Have you considered the birth control patch? You plonk it on the same day each week.

I used to take mine in the morning when I got up and brushed my teeth. You could also leave yourself a note on the door or wherever you would also see it to remind you.
If that doesn't work try the shot so you won't forget. In the meantime if you do have sexual intercourse use condoms for back up as well as STD protection.
It is up to you if you want to wait or not.

Just take the pill. Would you rather have a baby unexpectedly. Take it as soon as you wake up in the morning have a glass of water next to your bed with them. Theres no excuse not to take it

They make chewable birth control? Anyway, you need to speak with your physician about switching birth control methods. There is also a birth control patch that can be worn. But please remember that skipping doses reduces the effectiveness of the birth control.
