you are supposed to be 13 to even sign UP for Y!A so forget the preteen stuff.

theres adult content nearly everywhere on the internet, theres no point in trying to stop it.

i'm 15 and i think it should stay the same

YA restricted to 18 and +. That way YA will make a lot more sense. That won't stop the schoolchildren however. They will lie about their age. They will join YA precisely for the adult content, because YA is not graphic porn, above board and gets parental approval.
I think however the below 18's should be allowed to vent their inanity in their own forum. They will have a sympathetic peer group to interact with.

The creeps will always creep in. Actually, a lot of the 'inappriate content' comes from teens. Preteens and younger have a lot of sites available such as Disney and Nickelodion.

I think they should have separate Answers websites for separate ages. That way all the people in their 40's could be in one, all the teens could be in another, all the senior citizens would have their own, etc. There should also be a section that is okay for everybody to use.

A teen yahoo would be great for the kids....but to luppof there's no reason that adults need to use foul language or discuss rude topics with strangers.
