have a lot of work like chang front axle, transfere case need to raise a little add anothe driveline shorten exstisting one going to rear axle may need to build up rear axle too! cost almost as much as new vehicle/ some frame work has done too hold transfere case cut hole in floor board? too..
shop costs about $ 3500.00 to start plus labor??!! easy way to convert, buy four by four frame compleat then put your body on top of it! may be cheaper?

Yes. I did it myself with a 1980 Ford. I bought a wrecked 4WD and started changing the parts, By the time I finished, I had about $1000 in the conversion.
It will probably be cheaper though to buy a good 4wd than convert a 2WD to 4WD.

it would have been better if you had bought a 4wd at the start, it is expensive to convert and time consuming. if you are planning to do it yourself, you need a lot of mechanical know how

It's not that hard and if you use junk yard parts about $1000 and the fun of it I done this befour but it wasn't my daily driver it was just a woods toy
