To try to see the positive instead of looking for the negative.
And I'm saying this through gritted teeth as right now I have a 19 year old son home on Christmas vacation. Perhaps my resolution should be to have a party once he goes back?

I gave up on New Year's resolutions a long time ago because it felt like I put too much pressure on myself unnecessarily. However, due to the state law going into effect January 1st to ban smoking, I've decided it's time to quit. It's something I've tried to do in the past and the timing works since I'll now have a law I can use to reason with myself.
For all the smokers out there scoffing at me because I'm giving-in to "the man" on this one, I'm sorry. I really do need to quit and I might as well use the tools put in front of me to do that.
To the asker... what are YOUR New Year's resolutions? :)

I don't make resolutions. They are "promises" for the new year, and I refuse to make a promise I may or may not be able to keep.

I have two that I will diligently employ:
#1) Do not make commitments that I cannot or will not keep.
#2) Do not ask questions that I already know the answers to and don't want to hear.
