how r u sure and i mean for sure your turtle is dead .because i have a baby one and it was just swimming and stuff and now it willnt move at all and im not sure cause it is almost hibernation time..anyone know!?

If it starts to stink then its dead. Tap it a couple times. If it does not move then it is probably dead. How did your turtle act when he was hibernating. if there is something totally different its dead.

Hibernation in water turtles:
- water temps in the 40's
- turtle hiding in mud at bottom of pond
- fully tucked into shell
- gently pulling on a leg- the turtle resists it and pulls back
- watch the soft tissues under the shell for small slow movements

If it is not doing this, it is not hibernating.

They lay limp, head & legs outside of the shell instead of 'hiding' inside.

They don't respond to touch (tapping their mouth & toes).

Try not asking your question 3 times. if it doesnt move for a while its dead. but if it was JUST moving i doubt it died.

Lay him on his back and if he tries to turn over you will know he is alive....
