You're right! It's always a good idea to make up some name that no one has ever heard of before. Here's a good strategy: Dump out the Scrabble letter tiles, pick 7 at random and use them all to spell out a name. If you pull Z's, X's, or Q's and not enough vowels, that's too bad. You have to use whatever letters you pull. (What? That's how you arrived at Avalee? Oh. Well good job!)

I have never heard of that name "Avalee" before but I think that is a beautiful name for your daughter. That is the name I would name her. Don't worry about any other name. That is the name for her. Best Wishes for your new soon to be daughter.

When you pick a name, you want to picture someone named Avalee... what kind of personality would she have? Say her name different ways... as if you were her friend.. or her lover.. or her niece.. or her teacher.. or maybe announce it as if she was winning an award. Could you see this name on the credits in a movie? Avalee is a very nice name when you look at it from all angles.

Don't particularly like it but I really don't like "create-a-names" for kids. I have a step-niece named Avanlee who is in high school. It's only one letter off from the name you're suggesting so it's obviously not that original. Her nickname is Avie and it's ugly awkward name for a pretty girl. No one in the family actually likes that name except her mother.

I HAVE heard it before -- generally considered by parents who think they're avoiding the popularity of Ava itself -- but it still manages to seem a simply contrived, meaningless combination of aforementioned top-ten Ava and the suffix -lee. It just doesn't appeal, to be honest.
If it's simply the sound/feel that appeals, however, I do quite like classic/historic Aveline, Avalon, Avonlea, Avis, Aviva, etc. ;)

Avalee?
How would you pronounce it?
A-vah-lee.
Yes, I think that is very unique and beautiful. She would be special, by having that name [probably] all to herself.
Goodluck.
