how do you reset the maintance Req'd light on a 2001 honda civic

you don't disconnect the battery.

you have a reset button at the base of your speedometer for the trip odometer on your car. the procedure to reset the maintenance light is to put the key in the ignition but don't turn it on. then, with one hand push the trip odometer button in and hold it in. with the other hand turn the ignition key ON so that the lights on the dashboard come on (you don't have to start the engine). continue to hold the reset button in and watch the maintenance required light. when the maintenance required light goes out (after about 10-15 seconds), turn the ignition key OFF and then release the reset button.

your maintenance required light will be reset so that it comes on in approximately 4500 miles from the time it is reset
