You are looking at somewhere in the $1500-2000 range (US) to have the transmission rebuilt. Unless the car is very special, the cost of repair will exceed the retail value by quite a bit. It may be a good time to consider a replacement vehicle rather than repair!

Probably between 15-22 hundred dollars for a rebuild, call around and get some estimates, just make sure you get at least a year warranty

Check E-bay Motors and local salvage yards for a good used transmission for your car. You should be able to find a good used one for less than $500. If you're mechanically inclined, it's not very hard to change it yourself. All it takes a few tools, a good repair manual and, if you're a first timer, about 25 hours to do the job. You can probably find a good mechanic to replace the transmission on the weekend for about $200.

there is no such thing as a new rebuilt transmission its either a rebuilt transmission which wont be new or a new transmission and a new one for your car is around 2000 and a rebuilt one is about 1200
