Trendy names are annoying, but I get even more annoyed when people name their children stuff that isn't even a name.
For example: Cortland. Parker. Campbell. Piper.
I feel bad for all these children because they're going to have to live their lives with these names.

I don't think we'll all end up with the same name! My name is Haillynn. Ever met another one of those? My husband's name is Pierce. Met many of those? I have triplets whose names are Merrick Pierce, Chandler Leonard, and Tallon Eve. How many people have you met with those names?
See, it all depends on the parents. As long as there are a few out there that avoid trendy names like Aiden and Samantha, I think we'll be just fine.

Actually, the % of people having the same names has declined over the years:
In 1880, 54% of boys and 36% of girls had a top 25 name.
In 2000-2006, 23% of boys and 16% of girls had a top 25 name.
This is based on different spellings, not sure if this is true if you combine the different spellings

They are always trendy name
My husband was Michael, he never like it because ever one called him mike and he was Mike A,
At work or school, there were always another Mike
I go by my middle name
You know, you heard it, never was a top 100 name
Almost never used a letter at the end of my name
Chloe, Madison, Isabella, Aidens, Andrews, etc
In ten years, they will be less
Names have cycles

Some of them are annoying... but I really am not that upset about the trends becoming so popular. I mean, back in the 1800s and 1900s people were probably thinking the same thing about every Mary, Sam, and John
Times shift, so do names. History will keep on repeating itself.

Tee hee - that's very true! I live in Thailand, and honestly, it seems like there are 10 names to choose from that babies are given upon birth. And then, they are given nicknames as toddlers....they are reffered to by their nicknames for life.
Some of the nicknames are Chicken and Apple. Sooooo, that's one way around it! : )
I guess trends change, and soon we will have a new generation of names: I wonder if names like Margret, Louise, Jane, Mary and Anne will come back?
Now, some of the stars are getting a little crazy in trying to be unique: wasn't there someone who named their kid after a college major?

The same thing happens with every generation. No big deal. When I went to school there were tons of Sue's, Debbie's, Cathy's, Linda's, Sandra's, Carrie's, Jennifer's etc. Now you don't hear them anymore. It will be the exact same thing with this crop of "trendy" names, as well as all future ones. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I agree! I'm sooooo tired of these trendy and unique names! What ever happened to Mary, Jane, John...???
Edit: My mom's friend's daughter got pregnant and didn't want the baby. She told everyone she was carrying her little brother because she wanted her mom (Helen) and dad to raise him. She named her son Haylen after her mom! So yes, I have heard the name Haillynn before.
