You will need to take it to someone (the breeder?) who is experienced with either probing or manually everting the hemipenes. Relying on visual clues like tail thickness and tapering won't be reliable until it is bigger.

No matter how old it is the only real way of telling is taking him/her to a vet or a breeder to have it probed. Ball pythons can be probed within about 2 weeks of being hatched so size doesn't really matter.
