In you solve this, you will have a new view of the universe, one that solves three longstanding problems: the dual nature of photons, nonlocality (action at a distance), and consciousness. And, our mathematics may be seen as derived from spacetime, not creating it. So the real question is: what is reality?

Yes, I think it was about 80 years ago (1926) that Kaluza & Klein proposed a theory that united General Relativity and Maxwell's EM Theory. The basis of Kulaza & Klein's theory is essentially the same as today's Superstring Theory, which unites Gravity (General Relativity) and all other forces (Standard Model), as well as incorporates Quantum Mechanics.

It is true that Superstring Theory has given us a new view on the Universe (actually in this case, it should be called the Multiverse). Whether it is reality or not, only time will tell. (The Large Hadron Collider scheduled to begin operations in 2008 should help to determine some of the claims of Superstring Theory.)
