One would think that we all 'grow up' and
thereby Increase 'our' knowledge.
i beg-to-differ.
The late scholar and so-called philosopher Sir karl Popper taught that we usually or mostly learn from our mistakes.
So much so that,as i understand him, some of those who 'grow up' dont realise the mistakes they have made along the way,so to speak. Thus, and vitally, they may think that they have 'increased their knowledge' but they have not.
This is my interpretation of Sir karl's (critical) theory-and i have some taught knowledge of his work as a previous student of the history-of-Ideas,a european college course(still being taught i believe).
Possibly the "reducing on what we ignore" may be compatible or even the same as what i have just outlined,i dont really know.

We seem to know everything when we are in our teens. True wisdom is to know how much you don't know. It is amazing how much your parents learned in just a few years, when you yourself are a young parent, without all the answers! We don't reduce our knowlege, we reduce our pride about what we know.
