I have a 99 Plymouth voyager, and for some time now its been making a hissing sound when i brake? Then today as i slowed to stop at a red light it started rumbling , and then it stalled? now every time i come to a stop, i stall? Does any one no why this could be happening, and is the hissing rumbling and stalling linked?? Thanks so much for any information, its much appreciated.

Does this have any effect on the brakes? sounds like it might be a bad vacuum leak in the power booster on the brake system . A vacuum leak could cause the engine to gallop and quit.

The hissing sound is a vacuum leak, probably from the booster. A vacuum leak will cause the engine to stall . The rumbling sound is probably your brake shoes rubbing metal against metal. The next sound will be the siren of the ambulance coming to the accident site.
Have your car towed to a qualified brake repair shop and get ready to spend some big bucks.

sounds like a vacuum line problem for the hissing probably from the brake booster

the stalling problem could be the alternator or battery
check the spark plugs and plug wires
timing
cap and rotor on distributor

Yes the hissing sound is related.
I have seen this many times.
The brake booster diaphram is bad and the car is leaking vacuum.
Replace the brake booster and all will be fine.
