I have been taking metronidazole for about 5 days now to cure bacterial vaginitis. But for the past 3 days I have had sever pain in my left jaw - I can't open my mouth wider than an inch. It feels like lockjaw. Just wondering if the two are related or if anyone has experienced a similar side effect with this medication before?

I have used this medication before for bacterial vaginosis but I've never had that side effect with the medication.

Yes, it is possible that it could be related to the medication but another possibility is that you could be dealing with something called Lock Jaw Syndrome or TMJ syndrome. I would recommend going to a walk-in clinic (in case your doctor is closed for Christmas Eve Day in addition to Christmas Day) to have them evaluate the situation further to see what they think is going on.
