Can you keep them alive?
I can't they always die on me.
Danielle buys me one each year and she just came in with me a beautiful pink one that had gold sparkles on it.
They must put color in these when they start to grow them.

Yes, I bought 2 of them. They do come in different colors and leaf shapes. I grew one for 3 years outside. You have to cut them back about half way in August to make them bloom for Christmas

I sprinkled some glitter on the ones I bought, i put them on the coffee table but now I can't see the TV

Sorry for some reason I have never liked that plant.
I have never seen the fasination with them, they don't smell,
And who is it that decided that these should become the official Christmas time plant. Just another gimmick to get people to buy. I pass.
I watched Hule Howser's California Gold the other day, and they were showing a very large Poinsettia Growing green house. First they showed the plants all green, then they came back after a couple of weeks and they had all matured in to the different colors. It was acres and acres of different color
plants.

I didn't this year, but I usually do. They are so pretty and I love all of the new varieties. I have had some that I was able to keep alive for a few years, but never able to trick them into blooming again. I have a fairly green thumb, but not with the poinsettias. I do have two Christmas cactus plants that are getting close to bloom though.

I bought a blue one this year and won a pink one as a door prize at a Christmas party. I have another one our landscaper gave us six years ago that is still alive. It was four foot high last spring when I put it outside for the summer. I cut it down every year and let it start over. I've only been able to make it turn red once, but it's a beautiful plant non the less.

I have seen red, white, cream, pink and variegated Poinsettias, but not gold. Nurseries and retailers do not have Poinsettias at this time of year. Perhaps you can find a "used" Poinsettia from someone on eBay.

Poinsettias actually come in different colors...red, pink and a peachy color.

Yes, I received one from my job but gave it to my daughter because my kitty loves to eat them!

I've managed to keep them alive during the holidays, but not much longer. One year I even followed the directions for putting them in a dark place, etc. for reblooming the following year...didn't work!

I just bought a nice red one today. Do not over water it. After the leaves die off, you can put the plant in a closet in the dark until early spring. Now put it in the light and water weekly and the plant should return.

Yes I bought one yesterday, just to try and have a little christmas spirit. My family is spread out now, but we will be together on the 28th. It is tricky to grow them and get the leaves to turn red again and I can't remember all that info right off hand.......I bet someone in "garden and landscape" would know...

I always buy one or two, but they don't last long. They die on me as well. Anyway, they do add to the color of the season. You are not alone there.

I love them as well.
