I am a 66 yr. old women. I live alone and have a 50ft. driveway. My sons and a grandson have helped shovel when they lived close enough, but I have also shoveled it by myself many times. Last winter we had a very wet, heavy snow that was several inches deep. I shoveled for a couple of hours and began to feel a tightness in my chest which scared me. I finally called a neighbor several houses away and asked him to plow the driveway. He would not take anything for doing it. This winter we have only had one snow that reguired removal and it was over a foot deep. I looked out my window on what was truly a "winter wonderland". It was beautiful but I nearly cried wondering how I was going to get it all shoveled. A few minutes later that same neighbor pulled into the drive and plowed it out completly. I was so relieved but even more I was grateful to know there are truly kind people in this crazy world.

Most of the time I do. I do have some wonderful neighbors who have snow blowers and they will do the front walks - which really helps out. Most of the time I am the one who shovels the drive, the front porch, back porch and a trail out to the greenhouse. I really don't enjoy doing it, but it's about the only exercise I get in the winter. I'm getting the snow shovel all ready for the storm that is coming tomorrow.

I had enough snow shoveling to last a lifetime when I lived in Boston. We were snowed in for 8 days back in '77, No where to shovel the snow either

Nah. What little snow we get usually melts on it's own by lunch time and should there still be some hanging around we just sweep it away. Don't even own a snow shovel.

Sure do, I'm that grey haired lady out there every time we get enough snow to shovel. And I shovel a path around the house to the meter for the meter reader.

Yes I do...I invested in a snow blower 15 years ago, have it serviced every two years and love it. I had no choice as I moved here from California to a house on a hill. It was too much work so I went out on a limb and bought one as I was working at the time. I actually enjoyed getting out there and snow blowing. I'm done in about 25 minutes.

Not always anymore...but up until this year it was me all the time. My oldest daughter actually shovelled our pathway down one side of the driveway after our last huge snowfall.

Unfortunately, I ended up in need of heavy physical labour to spend some of my frustrations on earlier tonight, and headed outside to clean the rest of the hard packed snow left by the snow plow on it's first pass. (I don't know why they continuously miss clearing out the end of MY driveway, when everyone else's gets done!)

Considering that the snow was also weighted down by a full day of rain, it was no easy task to scoop and throw it! I ran completely out of steam by the time I got about a dozen feet up the driveway though...let it freeze in tonight's cold snap! At least that huge mound at the end is gone!!

I am happy to say we never have any to shovel, but it was unusually cold this a.m. ..about 38 degrees..had to wear a jacket to Mass. I know I am a wimp, but have never lived anywhere there is snow..I guess I am what you would call "a fair weather friend"

Yes, when we get enough of it to bother. My husband usually does the walk to the driveway and shovels his car out to go to work, and I get the front walk and my own vehicle if I want to go anyplace.. And the deck and path to the basement. I don't mind, it's good exercise and I have warm waterproof boots.
