its the newest and dumbest trend, its emo=emotional, its where winy bands cry about typical crap and teens pick it up and wear black and cry and cut themselves, its the new age goth. some of the music is good but the worthless people who imitate it makes it almost as annoying as they are. AFI for example, goth+punk+winy=EMO

First of all, wrong category lol but that's okay.

Emo is short for emotional. At first it was a genre of music that talks about angst and depression.

Over the years it's developed into an alternative lifestyle though. Most teenagers that are labeled "emo" have darker hair and wear a lot of eyeliner, wear band's which genre is "emo" and sometimes do bodily harm to themselves.

It's a myspace thing really.... I tried to sound complex but when it comes down to that, that's what it is.

If you truly "eat up knowledge like food" then it's time for your appetizer. This is not a question for the History category. Many people know what the term 'Emo' is and they use it all the time to describe a certain genre of music in the Rock & Pop category. Lastly, definition is not spelled "defenition."

Bon appetit!

Many people have different opinions on it. It orginally is a genre of music from the 80s, kind of indie and very emotional music. But most recently people started stereotyping people that dress indie or scene and calling them emo. Other also stereotype emo as people who cut themselves b/c emo is basically short for EMOtional.

I think Emo was origanally a music style. I googled it one day and that was the first thing it said in one of the results I clicked on.

emo at first was a genre of music.
But it evolved to be a lable.
Something like goth or punk.
They are usually depressed ( emo short for emotional).
They are anti-social.
Scene people are usually called posers but are really someone with qualities like preppy and emo people.

So in a nut shell, a lable.
