The Angels were a better team last year and will be a better team in 2008. With that being said, the Dodgers have made some good moves and are closing the gap

The Dodgers did have the best record in baseball last year at the All-Star break. I'd say 50/50. The Dodgers I feel will be better is 2008. Young guns like Matt Kemp and James Loney will have their first full season in 2008 and based on what they did for the 100 games they played last year look for an far greater year from both these guys.(Loney finished the year off by hitting nine homeruns in September.)
Both teams have had a good offseason. Tori Hunter is a good player and so is Andrew Jones. The Dodgers got the big bat they needed and the signing of Hiroki Kuroda answers the question of their #4 starter.
Based on stats from 2007 the Angels are better but whats on paper for 2008 looks to be greater for those wearing Dodger Blue.

I'll disagree with the consensus. The Dodgers, on paper, are a better team than The Angels. Both teams have very strong pitching at the top. People forget that the Dodgers ace isn't Brad Penny. It's Jason Schmidt, and likely will be all of next season. The Angels, granted, have Jon Lackey and Kelvim Escobar. Not taking anything away from them. But the Dodgers get a slight edge there because of the way the glaring vulnerability of the Angels' pitchers to one of their most likely year-in and year-out playoff opponents, the Red Sox. Schmidt and Penny have always been strong in the playoffs, and that's really when it counts.
The Angels have the best masher of the two teams in the middle of their lineup in Vladimir Guerrero, but the Dodgers made big strides towards catching up with Andruw Jones (especially since Juan Pierre will be setting the table for him.) Slight edge to the Angels there. The Angels are one of the few teams who may legitimately have a better manager than the Dodgers as well, with Mike Scoscia over Joe Torre. But here's where the Dodgers pull away: top prospects. The Dodgers have a whole lineup of top prospects like Matt Kemp and James Loney, and brand new guys just starting to break out like Russell Martin, Chad Billingsley and Jonathan Broxton. The Angels have Brandon Wood and Erik Aybar, and young players like Joe Saunders and Howie Kendrick, but somehow I just don't think it's quite the same. I give the Dodgers a clear edge for the future.
So I'll go with the Dodgers by a whisker, but with one caveat. Winning one first round game was nice but they really need to get out of the first round of the playoffs one of these years. Really. Maybe Joe Torre can relax them and inspiring them into doing it.

Moving forward, you have to like the Dodgers. They have more guys coming in to their prime than the Halos.... who did win 94 games. Bully for them. But the average age of their hitters was 28.5 last year. The Dodgers clocked in with a 29.7, but Gonzo is gone, as is Nomar who is headed for the bench. The Angels only have two hitters with their best years in front of them (Kotchman and Kendrick). The Dodgers have Martin, Loney, Kemp, Ethier, and the invisible man at third base.
The Angels pitchers are a younger bunch, but I am not sold on Ervin Santana and Joe Saunders.
I am a life-long Dodger fan, and I cannot believe how they fell apart last year...that said we appear to have better leadership now.
I am guessing the Angels will have a better record next year, but the Dodgers will have a better team in three years.

The Angels won their division, whereas the Dodgers were playing golf in October.
The Angels play in the far superior American League as well, and have one of the game's best players in Big Daddy Vladdy.
So it is the Angels FTW.

even if i give pitching to the dodgers, their offense is so anemic that it's hard to even compare. the angels are underrated on offense because they lack big power bats. but let's not forget that they manufacture runs better than anyone in baseball, and their baserunning is aggressive and executed night in and night out. the angels also defend better than the dodgers at virtually all positions.

Angels no question.
Who will have a better 2008 season depends on healthiness of Jason Schmidt, and if Eric Aybar can play SS for Angels.

Angels. Better team. Made it to the playoffs + have two 15 win + pitchers.
Better team on paper also.
