My Person opinion is that if someone is in terminally ill and suffering and they are legally sane then they have the right to choose what to do with their life and the Government should not have the right to interfere
I would really like to know what other people's opinion about this issue is. Please no rude answers and I respect everyones opinions

I've never understood why there's so much wailing and moaning about allowing some 90-year old cancer patient who suffers constant agony to end their life with dignity while at the same time many of those same people think it's perfectly moral and justified to slaughter some 3-million babies a year.

These are hard moral judgements. A person dying a painful death......euthanasia.......... is a nice word for committing suicide. Right or wrong, where to draw a line. I am sure you are suggesting this sollution out of empathy for a suffering soul.
A simple shot?? Is a person sane who wants to kill himself? Or is he depressed. Pain does that to a person. Unfortunately death is rarely easyly done by administering a narcotic. Probably the only one who does it successfully is a junky who gives theselves an unitntional overdose.
I really do not think that most MDs want to make a decision like that. Removing life support is a whole different thing.
MDs see many die and unfornutely it is not always pleasant.
And who is moral enough to make the decision who dies or not. When does it become murder? I am sure Hitler had noble reasons for his euthanasia. Where is the line?
Probably you are against capital punishment or lets just call it murder. Probably you are for abortion but seems like murder to me.
I do not think that any human can make this judgement, make it once it is very difficult, the second time a little easier and so on. A pathalogical killer goes through the same process.
A soldier never gets used to death and the agony but they harden themselves to accept it.
The Government is not a person but a structure, it has no concious, morals and screws up most things governments do.
But having watched many people suffer, die, and seen many animals euthanized I know in my heart I could never participate in human euthanasia. It is murder wraped in a nice name. Unfortunately we all have death in common. Might sound like the most pleasant way out but then again you do not know how you will feel when your time comes whether in pain or not.

I support legalizing assisted suicide for the terminally ill, but with reasonable restrictions. These restrictions should include:
1. An independent evaluation and an administrative hearing regarding the person's mental capacity to request assisted suicide. I would NOT support an inquiry into whether the person has "enough to live for"; that is totally subjective and judges should not second-guess anyone on that. The hearing should be ONLY on the issue of mental competency.
2. A mandatory waiting period.
3. A round of mandatory counseling.

I think adults should be able to do whatever they want with their own bodies without government interference, so if they are suffering and "can't take it anymore" it's not more ethical or moral to require them to linger in pain. But I don't expect all of America to agree with this any time soon. I wonder what Oregon has that the other states don't.

I think that there would be several complicated Life Insurance issues if people could choose when they wanted to "pull the plug". I beleve that is why the federal laws forbid this.

I would agree. If I were terminal, I don't want my family to watch me suffer. I have seen enough terminal patients in my lifetime to make me realize that it is painful for the patient, but it is just as painful for the family.

There should be no YOUTH IN ASIA. Enough Americans were killed or wounded in Korea and Vietnam.
As far as RIGHT to die? The Kevorkian case says it all.

I agree, they can kill themselves anytime they want. Anyone can... But I don't agree with someone, even a doctor, assisting with it.
