whats up with everyone telling kids santa isn't real? i'm 13 and if i had my way i would still believe in him.
why can't they let them believe that christmas is magic and something to look forward to.
you get presents from your parents all year theres someting special thinking that someone out there is giving you something.
if someone tells my nephew theres no such thing as santa i will kill them. why not keep the magic alive?

I thoroughly agree with you. I once told a young 9-year-old neighbor the history of St. Nicholas as a explanation of Santa after someone had burst his bubble with the "there's no Santa" comment.

If someone tells a child you know that there is no Santa, tell him/her that there was indeed once a man named Nicholas, who was canonized by the Catholic church as St. Nicholas because of what he did and she/he can ask her/his priest (the boy was Catholic) to tell her/him all about the first St. Nicholas.

The real St. Nicholas was born in 280 A.D. in Patara, a city in Asia Minor. He was a Christian priest who later became a bishop. He came from a wealthy family and traveled the country helping people, giving gifts of money and other presents. His gifts were given late at night because he did not like to be seen when he gave them away.

A famous story about St. Nicholas involves a poor man who had no money to give to his three daughters on their wedding day. St. Nicholas dropped bags of gold into the stockings which the girls had left to dry by the fire. The sisters found the gold, and ever since, children have hung stockings on Christmas Eve, hoping St. Nicholas would fill them with presents by Christmas morning. Children were also told to go to sleep quickly, or he would not come!

Others learned of what he did, liked the idea and were moved to follow his example by helping him expand on his work by also giving to the children since they knew he couldn't be everywhere. They became "Santa's elves" and continued the tradition, while giving St. Nicholas credit for the idea. This sprit of giving became the overwhelming spirit of Christmas and it lives in our hearts, just as God does. There really is/was a St. Nicholas (Santa Claus), and we are his helpers in seeing that every child has a Merry Christmas.

Not much has changed since then. Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) still won't arrive with Christmas gifts unless the children go to sleep early

I also explained that even Santa must have money to buy materials and pay the elves to make the toys and that our moms and dads try to see that they have money to give to help Santa with those costs, and that it's also why there are Santa's helpers, dressed like Santa, who collect cash and toys for children at Christmastime.

Hey, he'd been crying when I saw him outside my house; he was smiling when he went his way.

I still believe in Santa and I am 31. Santa is in your heart. The spirit still lives. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

I totally agree! People who tell little kids that Santa isn't real probably had issues in their childhood and are trying to damage other peoples' childhoods. Knowing that Santa isn't real ins't a HUGE deal for a kid, but it's fun to believe!

Because Santa isn't real, he is just like God: they don't exist. Both God and Santa were created to make people good. Santa makes children think twice about there actions, because if they are on the "naughty" list they won't get any presents. The same goes for God and adults, if adults are bad then they are going to "hell." So don't kill anybody over a fallacy little boy.
