Colorblindness is when you can't tell the difference between two colors.
If you really love him, you won't really care. =)
EDIT: When I say he can't tell them apart, I mean that there's not a difference to him when he looks at them. They're both the same (depending on what kind he has).

I don't know specifically which form of colorblindness he has, but in general, colorblind people cannot differentiate some colors from other ones. Like for some people, a red and a green apple would both look like a pea green color. It will not affect anything. My dad is colorblind, and my mother still married him. Just don't expect him to be an accurate fashion helper if you are asking him which looks better, a red sweater or a pink one.
This link has a nice picture which can sort of show you how your boyfriend's colorblindness affects his vision:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blind#Design_implications_of_color_blindness
Well, there are different types of colorblindness, like I said before. One includes red and green. But imagine that instead of a red and green apple, it was a pink and a red one (stupid, I know). The outcome of the picture would still be similar. To him the colors would look the same.

Color blindness mostly occurs in males, and the most common form (which my dad had) is red-green color blindness - the inability to distinguish between red and green. Makes stop lights fun!
Most humans have 3 different color sensing cells, each of which senses a different range of colors, but color blind people usually only have 2 kinds.
Unless your boyfriend wants to go into the military or work at sea, he's probably not going to have too much trouble - the light on top is red, on the bottom is green. Stop lights that are tipped on their side can be a challenge...

it just means that: he can't tell the difference between two colors.
his brain doesn't make the connection that one color is different than the other. and because its some kind of genetic thing on the sex chromosome, only men can be colorblind.
he seems like he really only has a mild case. its nothing to worry about. at least he doesnt have it bad. some men can't tell green and red apart.
its great that you don't dislike him for it. its purely genetic, and not his fault. so good for you for being supportive of your sorta boyfriend!
EDIT: he may have a mild case of tritanopia or tritanomaly type. Its where people have trouble distinguishing blue and yellow hues.

Everyone has cells in the back of thier eye in the Retnia called Rods and Cones. His Color Blindness is do to the color senistive protein that he has in his Cones. It is genetic. But women CAN also be color blind it is just rare
The answer below mine is incorrect. There are 4 Different cells that EVERYONE has.Its not a matter of having them or not its within the cell itself. As i stated before the problem is in the Cone Cell. And its only the Cone Cells that have the perception of color. There are 3 diff kinds of Cone Cells.
The Rods and Cones are the only cells that are light senitive cells the other two help carry the visual message to the brain.

My husband father, brother and nephew are color blind
The fater can not tell greens, reds, blues a part, the dark the color the better
The brother is like your boyfriend
The son, everything looks brown
You can not tell the different colors
If have two colors of blue, one a shade darker than the other, you will see the different. You boyfriend will think they are the same color
