It means you have been appointed by the manufacturer or main distributor to sell its products. For e.g. if you are appointed an Authorised Retailer by Nokia, you can sell Nokia handphones in your shop, and issue the genuine warranty to customers. Customers prefer to buy from an authorised retailer as opposed to a backdoor or parallel importer who's not authorised since the latter may not honor the sale in cases of returns or exchange or servicing and they do not provide warranties or after-sales support. It's also difficult to be sure if you're getting the genuine stuff if you buy from anyone other than an Authorised Retailer.

An example may be the best way to explain.
Verizon, which is a large public company has what they call corporate owned stores and authorized retailer ( agent ) stores. The corporate stores are the full responsibility of Verizon meaning that the rent, electric, salaries and income are all part of Verizon.
Authorized retailers can be small-time business owners in a small town that have a contract with Verizon to sell phones for them and get a commission. The authorized retailer will most likely have a nice store and wear Verizon name tags but the rent and salary are not Verizon's responsibility but instead the responsibility of the local authorized retailers. The only responsibly of Verizon is to pay the owner of the store his commission for sales.
Its a easy way for a big company like Verizon to gain market share and sales without having to go and rent or buy stores and hire bunch of people.
I have learned that finding the corporate owned stores is the best route to go regardless of what you are trying to do.

Games don't make kids violent. If a person goes on a rampage in real life it's because they're crazy/have something wrong in their head. No video game, especially one with "Fantasy Violence," is going to make a kid become violent. Typically the term "fantasy violence" is there to tell parents that the kids, yes, will be attacking/killing things, but it's not like it's Grand Theft Auto where you're shooting up the streets and driving around in cars mowing people over. To sum it up, there is NO FACTUAL PROOF that video games make kids violent, ESPECIALLY games with "Fantasy Violence."
